Life has been good. Married and have two children, Jason and Heather. Heather has son and a daughter. Retired from Burger King. Worked for the Asheville Tourists during the season. Love it. I live with my best friend in Asheville. I have my days. Love them. I do a lot of things for my neighbors in the summer. I bake cakes in the winter for my friends. Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Dinner – trying new recipes. Love it. Love to talking to my friends on the phone, going shopping, and keeping my grandchildren. Keep them often. Glad to see my classmates. Hope to keep giving. |

After leaving Erwin, I headed to Berea College in Berea, KY. I earned a BSN and a husband. We married in 1969 and moved back to NC (Asheville and Spruce Pine). I worked in hospitals and ended up in Public Health Nursing. Retired in 2005 with 31 years at the Health Department in Guilford County. I live on a 50 acre farm with my husband of 48 years. The year 1981 brought us the joy of our lives – Jennifer Green and now we have two beautiful granddaughters. We are BLESSED. I work part time as a congregational nurse ministering to young mothers, their children and to the elderly. My husband and I ran an audio-video installation business catering to churches for ten years. |

Comment: After graduation I went to work for Bon Marche Corporation as their Cash Auditor. A year later I married Tom Greene. My career changed to banking until our children were born. We have a daughter, a son, and four grandchildren. I retired from Crossroads Assembly in 2006. Tom retired from AT&T for the second time in 2011. Since then we have been traveling, enjoying horseback riding and spending time with our grand kids. We are both very active in our church, as Christ has been the foundation of our lives. | |

Hi all, I'm sorry I was unable to be with you at the reunion. I would love to have seen you again. It's still a bit stunning that 50 years have flown by with the speed it has. As most of you know, it's pretty daunting to think about compressing 5 decades of life into a few paragraphs. Here are some highlights for me. After graduation I attended AB Tech evidently to play basketball and hang out with buddies at night from my recollection. I had not a clue what I might want to do beyond those things. The lottery resulted in me joining the Air Force for a 4 year hitch allowing me to delay life decision making for a few more years. The healthiest and most life altering thing that happened for me during the military was meeting and marrying my current wife. Because I wanted to be the person she thought I was (or could be), I ultimately rode the GI Bill to a Ph.D. in neuropsychology from Chapel Hill. I had an affiliation with veterans and worked at Duke University with the VA Medical Center in Durham for several years before moving back to Asheville and eventually founded the Institute for Applied Neuroscience where I still work. My wife and I had two daughters who required me to assume more respectability than I would have chosen without them and after surviving their teenage years where they made every attempt to avoid talking to me any more than necessary, now work at the institute with me. We have a clinic where clients are seen by out therapists, but mostly I consult with academic institutions and treatment facilities. We've spent the last decade looking at what abuse early in a child's life does to their brain development and researching ways to help them change it to more functional patterns. And, still, I don't know where 50 years have gone. I appreciate all the hard work the amazing folks on the reunion committee did to make this happen. I know it was special and I've felt reconnected with you since receiving the announcement. Many of you meant a great deal to me and I'd have enjoyed telling you how much in person. Best to all. |

Following graduation, went to work at Square D Company in Asheville where I met and married Charles Harris in 1968. Charles and I have two sons Mark (teacher and wrestling coach at Enka High School) and Ryan (full time military). While raising a familly, I continued with my education receiving degrees from AB Tech, Mars Hill College and a MBA from Western Carolina University. Retired from Volvo Construction Equipment in 2010 after 15 years of service and following the closing of the Asheville facilities. In 2011 formed Janice Harris Consulting LLC and worked with a local manufacturer Meritor and Volvo in Pennsylvania in the area of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Officially retired in 2015. My husband and I belong to a dance club and enjoy dance and spending countless hours with our three grandsons attending their school and sporting events. |
