I have been blessed to have a wonderful daughter who is married to a pastor of a local church, a grandson who's in college to become a physical therapist and a granddaughter who also married a nice young preacher who has given us a great grandson (7 months old). The Lord sent Mike Creasman (Steven Creasmans brother) into my life in 1984. We were married in 1985. I have never understood why Steve didn't ever mention that he had an older brother. Mike started his own business doing taxes, financial planning, tax planning etc. in 1978 when he came back from Florida to live. I have been working with him since 1984. The name of the business has changed to Asheville Total Tax Solutions now. Mike and I both thank the Lord every day for the many blessings that He has given to us, our family and the health to work. We will continue working until we are unable to do the job right. We served on the Board of Directors for Youth For Christ for a while and also traveled with the Lay witnessing foundation thru Baptist Mems Assoc. The Lord has blessed. We try to spend as much time with our family as we can. We are both looking forward to the reunion. Thanks to all that had a part. You did a great job. |

For graduation my brother, Skipper, and his wife sent me an airline ticket for Blytheville, Arkansas where he was stationed in the Air Force. I spent the summer with them and worked at the community hospital as a nurse’s aide…back then it was totally on the job training. I returned to Asheville in time to attend Western Carolina University in the fall. In the spring of 1968 I again went to stay with Skipper and Alice who by this time had been blessed with twins. I kept the twins during the day while Alice worked and worked second shift at the hospital after she came home. During this time I decided that I wanted to go into x-ray. I returned to Asheville and enrolled at the Memorial Mission Hospital School of X-ray Technology. In January 1971 I became employed by Asheville Radiological Group. In May Joe Gosnell and I were married. In March 1972 our son, Cameron, was born and I resigned from ARG in order to become a stay at home mother. In May 1974 our daughter, Bethany, was born. In August 1979 when Bethany started Kindergarten I became a teacher assistant at West Buncombe Elementary School. I wanted to work but I also wanted to be home with the children when they were out of school so this was the perfect situation. I was listed in the 1983 Edition of Outstanding Young Women of America. I had to resign from West Buncombe Elementary School in 1987 due to illness. In 1989 our marriage ended in divorce. From January until October 1990 I worked in the morning for the French Broad River Foundation as administrative assistant and in the afternoon until late evening for the 1990 Census Bureau doing payroll. In October the Census ended and I became employed by the University of North Carolina at Asheville. I worked in the Registrar’s Office until 1995 when I transferred to the Department of Alumni and Development. In that department, as Information Technology Coordinator, I posted all gift money that came in to the University, sent acknowledgements to the donors and did all giving reporting as well as keeping the data base for alumni and donors up to date. In 1993 my first grandson, Joshua Lee Dockery, was born to my daughter, Bethany, and her husband. In 1996 I was ever so blessed when God brought Don Davis into my life…His perfect mate for me. We were married in May 1997. In July Bethany gave birth to a daughter, Megan Gayle Dockery. In August 2007 Cameron’s wife, Kimberly, gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth Faye Gosnell. She was a beautiful miracle…they had waited eight years for her. In October 2009 I retired from the State with 26 years of service: 7 at West Buncombe Elementary School and 19 at UNC Asheville. Don retired from Victory Baptist Church as Minister of Music and Youth with 20 years of service and we moved to Old Fort, NC to his “old home place”. In April 2011 God blessed Cameron and Kimberly with a son, Grayson Cameron Gosnell. In April 2017 I became a great grandmother with the birth of Joshua’s son, Ethan Lee Dockery. Over the years I have served as church pianist or organist for several churches in Buncombe and McDowell Counties. I am pianist for the Victory Voices Quartet, a Southern Gospel group. We have been together for 17 years and have had a ministry at three different nursing homes in Asheville. I have 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 step-children, 3 step-grandsons and 4 step-great-grandchildren. I have experienced a great many things over the course of my journey but the most important thing I have experienced is the faithfulness of God. He never leaves nor forsakes His child. The mountain top of life is a wonderful place but it is in the valley where God’s presence is so very real and comforting. I’m looking forward to the “rest of the story” God has for Don and me! |
