Comment: After high school Chuck went to NC State in aerospace engineering. His summers were spent in Seattle teaching climbing and working in the Seattle Parks.


 


 Following graduation from State, he moved back to Asheville and married in 1974. He and his wife, Peggy, built a horse farm in Fairview where they lived until their daughter Michelle was born in 1991.


 


In 1996 he remarried to his current wife, Karen, with her two daughters Sara and Alison. They built a horse in Biltmore Park where they currently live.





Possessing a BS in Engineering Operations and a Master of Urban Design from NC State University, Chuck served as the Director of Planning for Buncombe County for 10 years prior to establishing Tessier Associates in 1985. As planning director, Chuck created the county’s first community-based planning program, helped create the Asheville-Buncombe Water Agreement, crafted the county’s sub-division ordinance, rehabilitated land-fill sites, and facilitated the expansion of the Asheville Regional Airport. In his capacity he oversaw planning and managed numerous public works and economic development projects.


 


In 1984 he started Tessier Associates, a development service company here in Asheville that specializes in commercial and investment brokerage, property management and development. As a part of this firm, he is widely recognized for his key role in the redevelopment of downtown Asheville. He has planned, developed and brokered numerous new and rehabbed projects and served as a planning and redevelopment consultant in the Southeast for cities in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

Comment: My career began at Wachovia Bank in Winston Salem where I spent 6 years designing the cost accounting system and other accountability tracking computer-based systems.  With a BS in Math and an MBA in Quantitative Methods from UNC-G, I headed for Charlotte and joined Barclays American to introduce computer-based financial modeling and long-range planning systems.  After three years, the computer software industry beckoned and I joined a company in Atlanta, working in sales, technical sales support, and training in their Atlanta and DC sales offices.  Our specialty was financial modeling systems. 


 


Finding that I wasn’t running into too many attorneys that understood the software industry, I went to law school and became a computer lawyer.  JD 1988:  Georgia State.


Highlight:  Summer courses – Cambridge.


 


Before too long, I had 4 years of legal experience in banking with SunTrust and a few years with EDS.  Setting up my own firm in 1997, I represent technology companies that specialize in banking, education, and the public sector.  I am semi-retired – unable to leave my favorite client until … just the right time, I guess.


 


In retirement, I plan to continue some of the activities I have enjoyed over the last 20 or so years:  gardening (Master Gardener for UF/Orange County Extension Office); teaching (Current Events Teacher for House of Hope Orlando); admin (BSF Int’l); and piano playing.


 


I have been married to Burt for 23 years.   He is in the crane industry and enjoys training as well as investigating crane accidents.

Comment: After graduation continued education, married 1969, lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, working withExide Missile and Electronics Division, administrative assistant to the Accounting manager.  Moved back to Asheville in the 70's later our son Christopher was born. Two and 1/2 years later our daughter Stacie was born. I became a stay st home Mom active in their school and later becoming school board president at Asheville Catholic.  I worked with the Erwin youth league as a cheerleading coach for the mini mites and mites team. 1987 became a Nationwide Insurance Agent, and a agency owner.  Continued studies in the insurance field earning Life underwriting degree. Received many awards and retired 2010. I have been happily married for 48 years. Both our children graduated Erwin High, went on to graduate North Carolina  Stste University. Enjoy many intrtest, active in our church, and love traveling to Florida where our son lives and going to Atlanta where our daughter resides. Blessed with great health.

Comment: Married and moved to Greenville SC. Had my daughter. When she was 4years  old my first husband passed away. . Raised my daughter by myself for 25 years. Then met my husband now for 24 years. We have 3 grandchildren together.  After my daughter got married I went back to school and got my cosmatology license and was self employed for 25 years. Just retired last Christmas. I live in Iva SC
