William “W.C” Carroll Rogers, age 74, passed away at his home surrounded by those he loved on January 8, 2024. W.C. was born August 7, 1949, in Buncombe County to the late Thomas Hoyle Rogers and the late Lethia Sluder Rogers and loved growing up among the mountains where he was born and raised.
W.C. was a well-known figure in the Leicester Community. As we recall his great passion as a devoted farmer and cattleman, we remember his ability to garden and raise all types of crops and vegetables, flowers, all types of berries which he hand-picked himself. His garden was widely known. The special type of corn that he raised each year, known as “candy corn”, was loved by family and friends. W.C. was also an excellent cook and was famous for his fresh apple cakes that were made with hand-cracked black walnuts. This delicious dessert was a favorite among family 0807and friends and was always requested at every special occasion. W.C. was blessed with a kind and giving manner and loved playing games with his grandchildren which will be memories they will cherish forever.
Mr. Rogers retired with many dedicated years from Square D Corporation where he was a Senior Materials Analyst. During his time with Square D, he developed a love for golf and coaching softball. Prior to his employment. W.C. was a United States Army veteran having served two tours in Vietnam and earning a bronze star for his valor. W.C. was greatly loved and his legacy will remain always with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda Clemmons Rogers; his son, William David Rogers; his daughter, Trina Hugg (Dustin); his granddaughter, Jordan Nichols (Colby); his grandsons, Cameron Hugg and Clayt Campbell; his sisters, Phyllis Adams (Lee) and Jacqueline Gillespie (Harold) and a number of special nieces and nephews.
