Asheville – Shirley Messer Trantham, 49, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, July 23, 1999, after a sudden decline in health.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Council and Bethel Messer. She was a homemaker and a member of Emma Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years, John Wesley Trantham of the home; a daughter, Lisa Renee Trantham of Arden; sisters, Hilda Swayngim of Asheville and Linda Penland of Leicester; brothers, Earl Messer of Enka and Ray Messer of Leicester; a grandson Kory Devon Trantham of Arden; and several nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Rhodes Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
